== Introduction ==
<div style="width:90ch;">
James Heardson was a member of the Stationers' Company and practitioner in the London book trade during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. He was bound as an apprentice to John Harrison on 26 June 1580 and gained his freedom through servitude on 2 May 1597. Heardson subsequently took on apprentices in the book trade, including the binding of Simon Platt in 1600. He received a £5 loan from the Stuckye bequest in 1599, indicating his established status within the Stationers' Company.
