MLT Note: The following note appears under David Burt [ST/4:0640] Re- the father: The address appears to lead one to Joseph Burt [ST/3:3094], who we have recorded at this addres at the right time. However, by the time this David Burt was born that Joseph would have been around sixty. There is a possibilty that the father might be Joseph Burt [ST/3:6816], though never freed - his father, though described as a Gentleman at an awkward address, was called Joseph - and he would have come out of an apprenticeship around 1800. We know from I.G.I. that a David Burt was baptised on 27 Dec 1808 at St Sepulchre (parents Joseph & Ann) though no date of birth is given, but on the same day apparently the same parents baptised another son - Jesse - who was born on 10 Feb 1801. Christ Hospital School archives record a Jesse Burt - of Poppins Court - but give his date of birth as 10 Feb 1800. Perhaps the second Joseph was the son of the first, if his father was established in the Stationers' Company, he may not have bothered with the freedom but worked on in the family firm - and the boys David and Jesse were his sons. This could mean that some of the post 1800 events under Joseph [ST/3:3094] relate to the son - Joseph ST/3:6816]. ---
