Introduction
Samuel Rand was a bookseller and member of the Stationers' Company in London. Bound as an apprentice to William Jones in 1600, he gained his freedom by servitude in 1609 and subsequently took on at least five apprentices between 1610 and 1650. He was recorded at Barnards Inn, Holborn in 1642, with his name appearing on the imprint of H. Peacham's Art of living in London that same year.

RAND (SAMUEL), bookseller (?) in London; Barnards Inn, Holborn, 1642. His name is found on the imprint to H. Peacham's Art of living in London, 1642. [E. 145 (20).] There was a bookseller of this name living at Holborn Bridge between 1611 and 1634. [Arber, v. 260.] This may be the same or a successor.
