Further Notes
Thomas Keymer - Correspondence = [Pamela (1740)] "the preface to the novel's second edition contains an account by Aaron Hill in which young Harry (then a boy of 6 or 7) overhears 'Pamela' being read aloud and sheds virtuous tears. Hill seems to have been the boy's patron". "SR promptly rewarded the boy with a gift of illustrated books, including the recent 'Aesop's Fables', and in 1751 (after Hill's death) took him for apprenticeship without the usual fee". ---
