Introduction
Roger Ireland was a stationer and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was an original member of the Company at its charter in 1557, ranking twenty-eighth on the founding list, and served as one of the assistants by 1562 and as Warden in 1563-64 and 1568-69. Ireland held licenses for printing an Almanack and a book entitled Beware the Cat, and took on apprentices in bookbinding. By the mid-1570s, he appears to have experienced financial difficulties with the Company.
