== Introduction ==
<div style="width:90ch;">
Richard Brookbank was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He transferred to the Stationers' Company from the Drapers' Company in 1600 and was active as a master bookbinder, taking on at least eleven apprentices in binding between 1603 and 1637. Brookbank's long career in the book trade spanned several decades, during which he maintained his standing within the Stationers' Company and received loans from company bequests.
