John Porter was a bookseller active in London during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He was apprenticed to John Cuthbert in 1568 and gained his freedom through the Stationers' Company. Porter was particularly active as a publisher and bookseller from 1587 onwards, with his first book entry recorded in October of that year. He was associated with numerous prominent members of the London book trade and specialized in publishing theological works.
