HAMMOND (WALTER), (?) bookseller (?) at Salisbury, 1632-40. This bookseller made his first entry in the Registers on March 24th, 1631/2 [Arber, iv. 275]. He appears to have dealt chiefly in works of divinity. His last entry occurs on January 4th, 1637/8 [Arber, iv. 403]. Amongst his publications was a sermon preached in Salisbury Cathedral at the Lent Assizes in 1636 by the Rev. Tbomas Drant, and called ''The Royall Guest'' [B.M. 114. c. 31]. It seems probable that he was a successor to Henry Hammande or Hamonde of Salisbury. | HAMMOND (WALTER), (?) bookseller (?) at Salisbury, 1632-40. Tbomas Drant, and called The Royall Guest [B.M. 114. c. 31]. It seems probable that he was a successor to Henry Hammande or Hamonde of Salisbury.
MLT Note: Cf. McKerrow, R.B. &c. (1910), p.123 - W.H. of Salisbury, but has entries in the Register.
