GREENE (RICHARD), (?) bookseller in London, 1556-1612; (?) St. Dunstan's in the West. There were two men of this name, Richard Grene, senior { GREENE, Richard ( - 1590) ‹ LBT 07547 › } [see Duff, Century] and Richard Greene, junior, who was made a freeman February 3rd, 1583/4 [Arber, ii. 690]. The will of a Richard Green, stationer of St. Dunstan's in the West, was proved on May 9th, 1612, in the Court of the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's. He left a bequest to his son George and a sum of forty shillings to the Company of Stationers.

MLT Note: The two Richard Green's - McKerrow, R.B. &c. (1910), p.117 - have assumed to be - senior (LBT/07547) and junior (LBT/07553). They have also assumed to be father and son on the basis of the will of 9 May 1612. Lavin, J.A. - Notes - points out that the two apprentices listed under (LBT/07547) after Feb 1584 might have been bound to either.
