== Introduction ==
<div style="width:90ch;">
Joseph Day was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He gained his freedom by patrimony on 31 March 1600, having been the son of Edward Day. Day took on at least three apprentices in the book trade, including William Best (bound 1603), Michael Sparke (turned over to him 1607), and Robert Crosse (bound 1609), demonstrating an active role in training the next generation of London bookbinders.
