<p>
BLOND (MANASSES), bookbinder in London, 1595-7. Son of Nicholas Blond or Le Blond { [[BLOND, Nicholas ‹ LBT 06952 ›]] }, bookbinder. Apprenticed to Richard Watkins in 1577; but allowed to serve his father for six years [Arber, ii. 72]. In 1595 Manasses Blond had to get Isaac Sheppard { [[SHEPPERD, Isack ‹ LBT 06925 ›]] } bound to Isaac Bing { [[BINGE, Isaac ( - 1604) ‹ LBT 07343 ›]] } because he himself was not free of the Company [Arber, i. 200]. In the Registers of the Company under date April 18th, 1597, is the following entry: "Thomas Ensor { [[ENSOR, Thomas ‹ LBT 06772 ›]] }, William Houghton { [[HOLTON, William ( - 1620) ‹ LBT 08129 ›]] }, Richard Mabell { [[MABLE, Richard ‹ LBT 08457 ›]] }, John Oswalde { [[OSWOLDE, John ‹ LBT 07896 ›]] }. These fowre have yeilded their free consents for the admission of Manasses Bloome as a brother in thart of bookebyndinge, and are content that he should have his freedom."
